In Loving Memory of Alfred Gerard Allen
(November 13, 1936 – August 24, 2026) In his 90th year, Alfred passed away at the Brockville General Hospital on August 24, 2026, after a brief illness. Island-born and Island-raised in Ebbsfleet, Prince Edward Island, Alfred spent most of his life living deep in the roots of his beloved province. In later years, his journey took him to New Brunswick before eventually settling in Cardinal, Ontario, where he spent his final years. Alfred lived a rich, full life defined by hard work, resourcefulness, and unwavering faith. A devout Catholic, his faith guided him throughout his life's journey. From farmer, logger, and construction worker to private investigator, Alfred wore many hats. Warmly known as "Uncle Al," he was holistic long before it was trendy—always on the search for the best home remedies and routinely baking his own homemade bread. There was truly nothing Uncle Al couldn't do; even recently, he had his shopping list ready to tackle his own auto bodywork repair. His infectious laugh and stories of the past will be truly missed. He was the cherished brother of Edward Allen (Jeannie) and was predeceased by his sisters Rosalie Wiseman (Barry) and Lucy Stright (Herb), his brother Gerard Allen, and his parents, Melvina Allen (née Perry) and Arthur Allen. Uncle Al will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his nephews Kent and Michael, his nieces Melonie, Kimberly, and Cathy, as well as his extended family and friends.
