RUNIONS, Annie I. (nee RUTLEY)
March 5, 1930 – April 4, 2025
On the night of April 4, 2025, Annie Runions began her journey to reunite with her parents Hugh John and Sarah (Brown) Rutley; her dear husband of 54 years, Kenneth S. Runions and her siblings; brothers Winston, Dwayne, Lyle, Bryce and Willie and sisters Hughena Russell and Melba Singleton.
Annie's 95 years were devoted to the service of others. A consummate entertainer, she enjoyed nothing more than hosting family and friends in her immaculately kept home. Food and hospitality were always in abundance. Annie was a lifetime member of the Order of the Eastern Star in which she served in many capacities for over sixty years. At church her love of music was expressed as a choir member and her cooking and baking skills made her a valued contributor to church gatherings. Nothing in life seemed to please her more than giving a small gift or treat to a friend, a caregiver, a child or a pet. These gifts often came from her well-tended garden or well stocked pantry. She wanted no one to ever leave her home empty-handed.
Left to continue her legacy of generosity and care for others are her daughter Karen Essery (Dan) and son Roy Runions, grandchildren Jodi Essery (Attila Clemann) and Ben Essery (Corinne Verwey), great grandchildren Leif and Dorian Clemann and Hazel Essery. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Rosemary Rutley, Hazel Runions, Irma Cook and Grace Runions, numerous nieces, nephews and descendants of the Rutley and Runions families and her dear friend Barbara Joan Thompson.
A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Presbyterian Church, 15 Memorial Square, Ingleside, ON on Monday, April 14 at 11 a.m., Reverend Firas Shammas officiating. A Celebration of Life luncheon will follow next door at the Masonic Lodge. Interment will take place at a later date.
The family is most grateful to Garden Villa Retirement Residence, Chesterville, ON for surrounding Annie with loving care during her final years, and for the compassionate care she received at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on the night of her passing.
