Passed away peacefully at the Caressant Care Nursing Home in Bourget on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, Carmen Lise McLaren (nee Descôteaux) of Finch, age 84. Beloved wife of the late Jack McLaren for 60 years.  Dear mother of Preston McLaren (Jaye) of Ottawa, Roxanne Crump (Angus) of Winchester and Martin McLaren of Embrun.  Carmen will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren April, Preston Jr., Kody, Steven, Justin, Carly, Derrick, Jaclyn and Kayla.  Carmen is survived by her siblings Paul (Cecile), Paulette Patenaude (late Joe) and Florent (Jacqueline) She was predeceased by her parents Paul and Yvette Descôteaux (nee Bruillette) and her sisters Lucienne, Gisele and Marcelle. She is also survived by several nephews.

Carmen worked at Bell Canada in her teenage years. She then went on to work at Lowney's where she met her true love, Jack. They had three children and several grandchildren and were married for 60 years before his passing in 2022. Carmen worked at NDC in Toronto where she excelled as a data system analyst.  She also worked as a receptionist for Surgenor Pontiac Buick and Leons Furniture. Carmen's first love was her family. Friday nights were date nights with Jack. They also enjoyed their trips to Cape Cod and Lake Placid.  Weekends were dedicated to family meals and get togethers. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, from picnics at Milles Roche, and trips to Kingston and Quebec City. Carmen was super generous and loved buying gifts for everyone. She loved her baking, from apple pie and chocolate chip cookies to her famous fudge. Carmen had a very infectious laugh, lots of spunk and a unique sense of humour. She loved painting, sewing and making her family beautiful gifts for Christmas.  Carmen spent the last five years at Caressant Care in Bourget where she made special ties with the staff there. They were wonderful to her, and we appreciate everyone and everything they did for her. She will be sorely missed.
