Obituary

Charles "Lenard" McLean (1956 – 2026)

Charles Lenard McLean, born in 1956, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 8th. He was 69 years old.
Lenard lived a life defined by family, community, and an enduring love of hockey. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Debbie, who passed away in 2025. Together they shared a life of partnership, and her loss was deeply felt.
Lenard was a devoted father to Trevor (Kate), fully embracing the role with quiet strength, guidance, and care. Later in life he became a proud and loving "Papa" to Charlie, Bentley, and Max, finding pure joy in every visit, every milestone, and every opportunity to spoil his grandchildren.
Hockey was central to Lenard's life. A passionate fan and dedicated coach, he shared his knowledge and enthusiasm with countless players over the years. Whether behind the bench, at the rink, or simply talking about the game, his love for the sport never faded. That same loyalty, patience, and steady presence he brought to coaching, he brought to his family—always showing up, always supporting, and always creating lasting memories.
Lenard will be remembered as a loving husband to Debbie, a caring father, a devoted papa, a respected hockey coach, and a kind man from Winchester, Ontario.
He is survived by his brothers Alan (Marion) and Tommy (Lisa); his sisters Nancy (Albert), Lois (Gary), and Lori (Bryan). He will also be deeply missed by nieces and nephews and his best friend Robyn and Tammy Sadler.
The family asks that you honour Lenard's memory by spending time with those you love—or by watching a hockey game in his honour.
He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
