Christopher Braginetz

Christopher (Chris) Braginetz passed away at Winchester District Memorial Hospital on September 2, 2025. He is survived by his partner Estelle Smallhorn, children Kristin and Alex, grandson Noah, and brother Phil.

Born in Edmonton, Alberta, Chris grew up moving from coast to coast as the progression of his father's corporate career led the family across Canada before they finally settled in Montreal. Not only was he gifted academically, Chris was a natural athlete who enjoyed hockey, tennis, and golf. He inherited a love of music from his parents and was blessed with a rich bass singing voice. He embarked in a career in financial services first as a banker, then a mortgage broker, and finally as a financial advisor, several years of which were spent in Eastern Ontario. Many came to know Chris through his assistance in the preparation of income tax returns.

Despite his failing health, Chris resolutely lived his life on his own terms with gratitude for the kind assistance he received from friends and personal support workers. A gathering in his honour will be held at the parish hall at Christ Church United in Chesterville on Saturday November 15th at    1:00 p.m. Those who knew Chris are welcome to attend. He will be laid to rest at Crystal Lake Cemetery in Stanstead, Quebec alongside his mother and father.
