Dallas Canough
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mom Dallas Canough (nee Crites), at Fairhaven Long Term Care in Peterborough, Ontario on October 5, 2026, at the age of 82, with her daughters Lorelei Kimmett (late Kevin) and Trudie Hall (Bob) lovingly by her side. "Nanny" will be missed by her grandchildren Alyssa, Chelsea and Bobby Hall, David and Beth Kimmett and her great-grandson James Kimmett, as well as her brother Dale (Marion) Crites, sisters-in-law Rita Canough and Shirley Fawcett (late John) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband David Canough, her parents Elburn and Dorothy Crites and her sisters-in-law Lenora Salmon (Lorne) , and Lorna Marcellus (Dale).
Dallas had a wonderful zest for life and a personality that was uniquely her own. She had a great sense of humor and a quick wit with just the right amount of spice. She loved to sing, spend time in her garden, and bake, but more than anything, she loved being surrounded by the people who meant the most to her—her family and friends.
For the past seven years, Mom has called Fairhaven Long-Term Care in Peterborough, Ontario her home. During that time she was blessed to have many loving hands caring for her. We are deeply grateful to the staff who supported her and brought kindness and compassion into her life over those years.
We cherish many happy memories and the stories and laughter we shared with her will remain with us forever. Her absence is deeply felt, but so is the love she gave so freely. She was our mom, our family's heart, and a one-of-a-kind woman who will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully, Mom. We love you and will miss you always. Give dad a great big hug from us! ❤️
