In Loving Memory of Donna-Lee
It is with profound sadness that Donna-Lee's family announces her passing.
Donna-Lee devoted much of her life to caring for others. For most of her adult life, she operated an in-home daycare, opening her home and heart to generations of children and families. After returning to Ontario, she continued that calling by becoming a Personal Support Worker, a role she dedicated herself to for many years until her retirement. Kind, caring, and always willing to help, Donna-Lee's compassion extended well beyond her work. She was an active volunteer and proud member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Cardinal Legion, giving her time and energy to her community and the people around her. But anyone who truly knew Donna-Lee also knew that kindness wasn't her only defining characteristic. She was stubborn, determined, spirited, and a go-getter—a trait that runs proudly through the family. She knew what she wanted, wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and faced life on her own terms. It was all part of what made Donna-Lee unmistakably Donna-Lee. Donna-Lee was married to Robert Latour and was the proud mother of one son and three daughters, as well as a stepdaughter. Her family grew over the years to include many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each an important part of the family she loved.
She was the loving mother of Daniel Fuchs, and grandmother to Lily-Ann and Elizabeth; mother of Samantha Beacon, and grandmother to Anthony, the late Lindsey, the late Maryk and Maranatha and Amaya. Mother of Rowanne, and grandmother to Amanda and Collen; and Mother of Margarite Beacon, and stepmother to Sharleen Latour. Donna-Lee was the daughter of Patricia Frankland (McMahon) and Richard Frankland, and grew up alongside her two sisters and brother. Her sister Barbara Pinto (Frankland) and her husband, Ceaser Pinto, raised their family of Zachary Pinto and his wife Nathalia, parents of Luisa; Patrick Pinto and his wife Zoey; Richard Perron and his wife Melisa, parents of Logan and Ethan; and Ken Pinto, father of Connor. Her sister Gail Killam (Frankland) and her husband, Ken Killam, raised Stephanie Zammit and her husband Brian; Charlene Jannetta and her husband Jason; and Kristoffer Killam and his wife Tiffany.
Donna-Lee was predeceased by her brother, Brock Frankland, Sister Gail Killam as well as her grandchildren, Lindsey and Maryk. Donna-Lee leaves behind a large family and a lifetime of memories. Her legacy can be found not only in her children, grandchildren and extended family, but also in the countless people she cared for throughout her life—from the children who came through her daycare, to the people she supported as a PSW, to the friends and neighbours she served alongside in her community. She spent a lifetime taking care of people. Those who loved Donna-Lee will remember her kindness and compassion, her humour and spirit, her determination, and, of course, that famous family stubbornness. She lived, she loved, she cared, and she did things her own way. And she will be deeply missed.
