John MacDonald
1963 – 2026

John MacDonald passed away suddenly at his home in Iroquois, Ontario, on Thursday, January 29, at the age of 62. He was the beloved son of Louise and the late Tom MacDonald, and the cherished brother of Susan (Mark Downey). John was a proud uncle to Rebecca (Dan Proulx) and Sean Downey, and a devoted great‑uncle to Emmett and Caden Proulx.

John will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty to family and friends, his open‑hearted nature, and his ability to make everyone feel welcome. He grew up in Manotick and had many lifelong friends who he cherished deeply. After settling in Iroquois, he built a life rooted in independence and hard work. He was currently employed as a welder with Advanced Grain Handling Systems Inc., a role that suited his skill, creativity, and dedication.

He loved watching the ships travel along the St. Lawrence River, imagining how they worked and dreaming up ways he could make them better. Gifted with an innovator's mind, John could repair anything or build something remarkable out of almost nothing. He lived life on his own terms, grateful for even the smallest blessings, unafraid of risk, and undeterred by setbacks and whatever challenges came his way.

A celebration of life to honour John will be held this spring.
