Obituary

JOHN C.S. WILSON

Passed away peacefully on April 2, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones. John Campbell Sinclair Wilson of Dixon's Corners, South Dundas, Ontario, was 80 years old. John is survived by his wife, Diane Wilson (née Newcombe), and sons Ian (Catherine Coleman), Simon (Michelle Wilson) and Chris (Kirsten Taylor-Bosman). "Bumpa" was a loving grandfather to Ewan, Noah, Carter, Alexandria, Camden, and Elin. John is survived by his siblings Jim Wilson (Jean), Alex Wilson (Robin), Nancy Wilson (Gord, deceased), Chris Wilson (Judy), and Alison Danko (Jimmy), as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Catherine Wilson (née Tetley) and Dr. John C.S. Wilson who raised their six children in Port Colborne. John was a secondary school teacher, cattle farmer and had an apple orchard. He taught science at North Dundas District High School for 30 years. He was an avid curler and coached curling, and he also coached hockey in South Dundas. Coming from the city, John learned how to raise cattle, chickens and pigs, and balance that with teaching with the support of Diane and their sons. Apples (some of which were descendants from the original McIntosh tree) were harvested with family members who travelled from Southwestern Ontario, local friends and neighbours who would pick and sort apples and spend time together at the farm. In retirement, John enjoyed golf and continued to curl and ski, and travelled with Diane to Normandy, Greece, Turkey and China. Inquisitive by nature, John connected with many people of different ages. He enjoyed a good story – as the storyteller or listener – and his irrepressible humour meant that his laugh was often heard. He enjoyed a glass of wine, swimming and boating, and loved animals. He loved his family above all, and he will live on in our hearts.
