McDonald, Louise Anne McDonald – Montgomery
It is with profound sadness and love, that we the family of Louise Anne McDonald – Montgomery announces her passing on March 8, 2025, at Wellington House Long Term Care Facility in Prescott, Ontario, at the age of 89. She was born Louise Anne Cotton and was the youngest child of 6 children to John Lawson Cotton and Mary Anne Cotton (nee McNeil) in Miscouche Prince Edward Island on October 20, 1935. She was predeceased by her husband Byron McDonald in 1978, and her daughter Margaret Anne in 1986. Byron and Louise came to Cardinal Ontario from PEI in the mid 1950's where they were married and settled down to work and raise a family in the village. They both worked at what was then Casco, and in the Best Foods Division. She was the last of her family to pass on to be with her Lord. She was the loving mother of son Michael and his wife Judy (nee Smith) whom she thought the world of and had many laughs with Judy's quick wit and funny (sometimes naughty)stories! She remarried William Dale Montgomery and was a Stepmom to Jane and Barry Montgomery. She was a loving grandmother to Jason MacDonald (Ashley) Kerri MacDonald (Ryan Fischer), and Christina MacDonald(Greg Rossetti), and Daniel Laporte(Joan). She was also the Great Grandmother to Mason and Kaleb Fischer, Kayden MacDonald, Gianna Rossetti, and Connor Laporte. She was fondly known as Weesie to many that knew her, and to all the kids who grew up with us in Cardinal. This nickname followed her to her Wellington House family, and we, our family cannot say enough good things about how they cared for, treated, and engaged with our mother each and every day for the last 5 plus years! There is no place we would rather her have been, during this period of required long term care then Wellington House! Thank you to all the staff there, we will always be eternally grateful for the LOVE and CARE you bestowed upon Louise! Mom was very friendly to all and always had a ready smile and a kind word. Her wit was unmatched and memories of her laughter and charm will resonate with us always. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren for secretly handing out gummy bears and making the most delicious chocolate chip cookies ever!
There will be no funeral or visitation. As per moms wishes. Cremation and burial will be in the McDonald plot at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. There will however be a celebration of Life for Louise on May 17 at the Cardinal Legion from 1:00 – 4:00pm. If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift "please notify the family. Arrangements entrusted to the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home Cardinal. Online condolences may be made at www.marsdenmclaughlin.com.
