Obituary

Marie "Millie" Bennett

Peacefully, at home, Marie Imelda(Millie)Bennett nee Vienneau passed away at age Ninety-Nine. Predeceased by her husband William Bennett , Millie's  amazing life will  be celebrated by her family: Daughters, Beverly Fortier, Stephanie Zajac (Bill) beloved Grandchildren Robert Munday, Dennis Hutt( Leah), Morghan Fortier( Brett Jubinville),Drew Fortier (Rachelle) adored great grandchildren Brielle, Delphine, Wyatt, Arwyn, sisters Angeline Davis, Eleanor Laidlaw, Judith Vienneau and several nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by sisters Eileen, Gertrude, Margaret, Martina, Marie Louise, Elizabeth, and brother Michel.  Born and educated in Bathurst, New Brunswick, Millie joined the RCAF Women's Division serving in North Battleford, Saskatchewan during WW2 where she met and married William(Bill) Bennett.  They returned to raise their family in Bill's hometown of Cardinal, Ontario, where he accepted a position with Canada Starch Co. and Millie embarked on a career of volunteerism with local schools, hospitals, political parties, churches, and community.  Millie's artistic talent was the common thread woven throughout her entire life until dementia robbed her of the ability to create art. A national award-winning artist, Millie devoted her time creating various soft sculptures and papier mâché figurines along with public and privately commissioned murals and works of art. The family wishes to express our sincere gratitude to Brockville's Community Paramedicine program, Leeds and Grenville Paramedics Service,  Bayshore, St Elizabeths Health Care,  BGH Palliative Care , Veterans Affairs and Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home.  Special thanks to the "Team" that saw us through to the end - Krystal, Sabrina, Mackenzie, Cerian and Danny M.
