In Loving Memory of Moyra Anne Workman
1930 – 2025
Moyra Anne Workman (nee Casselman) passed away peacefully on June 9, 2025, at the age of 95. She is lovingly remembered as a cherished Wife (Reg), Mother (Stephen, Tom, Liz, Victoria), Sister (Ramon, Norma), Grandma and Nanna to 12 grandchildren, Great-Grandma to 12 great-granddaughters, and Aunt to nieces and nephews.
Moyra's pleasant disposition, friendly smile, and signature little wave touched everyone she met. Her warmth shone through in everything she did—whether it was sharing a flower or vegetable from her garden, gifting a cozy hand-knit sweater, or delivering a box of her homemade cookies. Her handmade touch will be fondly remembered and forever loved.
Born and raised in Williamsburg, Moyra worked in her family's business at the Picadilly Theatre during the Dr. Locke era. After graduating from Morrisburg Collegiate, she attended McGill University's Macdonald College in 1948 to study Household Science. She later settled in Winchester, where she built a fulfilling life as a member of the local curling club, Presbyterian church, and various ladies' groups. From 1976 onward, Moyra lived near the St. Lawrence River on Ault Island which became a very special place for all the family.
Moyra had a deep love of reading and the arts. She was a season ticket holder at the Upper Canada Playhouse and found joy in music and theatre. Skilled in countless home crafts—sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking, baking, flower pressing, and even macramé—she used her talents to bring joy to those around her. Her family was truly the centre of her life, and she lovingly marked every birthday and holiday with thoughtful gestures and homemade gifts. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and quiet strength.
The family would like to send grateful thanks to the staff at Dundas Manor and Chartwell Hartford Residence for their wonderful support and excellent care over the past few years. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a future date, and in lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the WDMH Foundation – Dundas Manor Dream or The War Amps. If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift "please notify the family". Online condolences may be made at marsdenmclaughlin.com.
