Pierre Gutknecht went to be with his Lord and Savior at the Winchester Memorial Hospital on Saturday February 15, 2025 at the age of 68. He passed away peacefully, always surrounded by family, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born in Château d'Oex, Switzerland, to parents the late Olivier Camille Gutknecht and late Antoinette Gutknecht (Chevalley). He was the youngest brother to Samuel (Nicole), Jean-Luc (Sylviane), Henri (Claudine), the late Jacques and Philippe (Laurence). He leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews both in Switzerland and Canada, with whom he shared a special bond.

Pierre spent many years farming alongside his brother Philippe. Pierre took great pride in his hard work and dedication with the animals and the land. He could often be found spending time with loved ones, sharing meals and playing games with young and old around a kitchen table. Pierre was an avid traveller, mostly to South America where the culture and people captured his heart. In the last few years, Pierre co-founded a Christian children's camp in Venezuela. There, he worked tirelessly in a situation that was more than challenging at all levels. Despite these challenges, Pierre's dedication to the project never wavered because his joy was to see happy, energetic children (and adults) grow in the Lord Jesus in a beautiful country retreat setting. Pierre embraced adventure and was often venturing off the beaten path, forming connections with people that would become dear to him.

We want to extend our deepest thanks to the incredible staff at the Cancer Center at the Ottawa General Hospital and Winchester Memorial Hospital. Their unwavering kindness, compassion, and dedication made such a difference during a challenging time.

Family and friends may pay respects at a visitation from 5-9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Marsden Mclaughlin Funeral Home 12318 County Rd. #18, Williamsburg, Ontario. A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Rideauview Bible Chapel, 1249 Prince of Wales Drive, Ottawa.  Interment will be at New Union Cemetery in Williamsburg.
