Robert "Bob" Edward Gilroy
June 3, 1941 - August 26, 2026

Passed away peacefully surrounded by his family at the Maxville Manor on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, Bob Gilroy of Chesterville, age 85.  Beloved husband of Catherine "Ruth" (nee Munro).  Loving and devoted father to Peter and Karen (Chris Holmes). Cherished Grandpa to Kaleigh Moore and step-grandpa to Chase and Ella Holmes. Fondly and lovingly remembered by his niece Ann and nephews Chris, Trevor, and Blair and his Gilroy, Patton, and Munro families.
He was predeceased by his parents Percy and Martha Gilroy (nee Patton), his sisters Margaret Campbell (Roy) and Miriam Firth (Michael) and his nephew David Firth.
Robert was best known for his broad knowledge, a career as an educator serving SD&G, a world traveller, his witty nature, his faith, and his community service with the Rotary Club of Chesterville, Masonic Lodge, and the Chesterville and District Historical Society. He was an avid singer with and supporter of Christ Church United in Chesterville.

Funeral Arrangements

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at the Marsden McLaughlin Funeral Home in Chesterville on Sunday, October 4th from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Private family funeral service.  Donations may be made to the Maxville Manor in recognition of the excellent care they provided to Bob.  If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift "please notify the family".
