Robert John Paterson "Jack", a cherished husband to Shelley Black, father to Angela Mohamed, stepfather to Benjamin and Jesse Dawson, and a loving grandpa, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2024, at the age of 63, at the Carefor Hospice in Cornwall, ON. Born on March 21, 1961, in Montreal, QC, Jack's generous spirit touched all who knew him.
Those who knew Jack understood his profound love for feeding others. No one in his presence would ever go hungry, and his bountiful gardens were a testament to his nurturing nature and green thumb. Jack's homegrown vegetables and fruits were often shared with neighbours and friends, a simple act that brought him immense joy.
Jack loved nature, especially bird watching and fishing. He cherished his trips to Cuba, where he relished the serenity of fishing on the ocean. His daughter, Angela, fondly recalls the many fishing trips they took together during her childhood, memories that will be treasured forever.
He loved to travel and meet new people, and learn about other cultures. Jack's love for antiques and treasures, a passion he likely inherited from his late mother, led him to work at an auction, where he was both a helping hand and a collector.
Jack's legacy of generosity and thoughtfulness is carried on by his family, who will continue to live by the example he set.
In his final act of giving, Jack generously donated his body to the University of Ottawa's Anatomy Program. His selfless contribution will aid in the advancement of science and education, allowing him to continue helping others even in his afterlife.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to the Carefor Hospice Cornwall (https://carefor.ca/donate-cor…) or to your local Food Bank.
