Major Walter Sliwinski

It is with great sadness that we announce that Walter "Walt" Sliwinski passed on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at age 86.  Loving father of Tess Sliwinski "Kid" (Pete Streng).  Devoted companion of Wendy Johnston.  Uncle of Jean Brown (nee Pokusa).  Cousin of Tina Svitlovytska.  Predeceased by his parents Kazimierz "Kazik" and Miroslawa "Mira" Sliwinski (nee Lomakowicz), his beloved sister Idalia "Ida" Pokusa (Joseph "Joe") and his nephew Joe Pokusa Jr.  In addition to his dedication to this beautiful country, he will forever be remembered for his sharp wit, kind generosity, avid love of nature and the outdoors, and unparalleled sense of humour.  He will be deeply missed.

Memorial Arrangements

A Celebration of Life with family and friends will be held in the Orchard Room at the McIntosh Country Inn in Morrisburg, Ontario on Saturday, February 7th from 1 - 4 p.m.  A brief ceremony and fond memories of his lifetime will be shared by his daughter starting at 2 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute or Winchester Memorial District Hospital would be kindly welcomed.  If you are making your donation online or by cheque directly to the charity, please include the following note with your gift "please notify the family".  Online condolences may be made at marsdenmclaughlin.com.
